www.ti.com SetupandTestResults 2.1.3 J3-VOUT Thisheaderisthepositivevoltageoutputforthedevice. 2.1.4 J4-GND Thisheaderisthereturnconnectionfortheload. 2.1.5 J5-USB-TO-GPIOConnector Thisconnectorisforthe10-pinribboncablethatconnectstheEVMtotheUSB-TO-GPIOinterfacebox.It isonlyusedwhenthesoftwareisusedtoperformdimming. 2.1.6 J6-FB ThisheaderconnectstotheFBpinoftheICthroughresistorR4.ResistorR4isunpopulated. 2.1.7 JP1-ON/CTRL InstallingthisjumpertiestheCTRLpintoV ,andenablesthedevice.Removingthejumperallowsthe IN internalpulldownresistortopullCTRLtoground,whichdisablesthedevice.Thejumpershouldbe removedifusinganexternalsignaltoperformdimming. 2.1.8 JP2-OpenLED InstallingthisjumperplacestheWLEDsintheboostconverterfeedbackpathandallowscurrenttoflow throughtheWLEDs.RemovingthejumperremovestheWLEDsfromtheboostconverterfeedbackpath. WiththisjumperremovedandjumperJP1installed,theovervoltageprotectioncircuitoftheICclampsthe boostconverteroutputto38V(typ). WARNING This EVM has white LEDs that shine very brightly. Protective eye wear and/or a diffuser to cover the white LED is recommended. 2.2 Hardware Requirements ThisEVMrequiresanexternalpowersupplycapableofproviding3Vto18Vat1A. InordertoimplementanalogdimmingviaaPWMsignal,removethejumperonJP1andthe10-pinribbon cablefromJ5,ifinstalled,andperformthefollowingstepsinanysequence: • ConnectthepowersupplybetweenJ1andJ2andturnonthepowersupply. • MakesurethatJP2'sjumperisinstalled. • ConnecttheappropriatelyconfiguredfunctiongeneratortotheCTRLsideofJP1. ThePWMsignal'sdutycycleisdirectlyproportionaltotheregulatedcurrent.
