Itincludesascriptinterpreter,ablock-diagrambasedgraphicaluserinterface,aregisterinspectorand supplementalfeatures(forexampledigitalfiltercalculator)dependingoncodeccapabilities. TheAIC3110/AIC3100/AIC3120EVMworkstogetherwiththeCodecControlsoftware.ItconnectstoaPC viaUSBandenumeratesasaUSBclassaudiodevice.OnceconfiguredwiththeCodecControlsoftware, theEVMactsasasoundcardwhichcanplaybackaudiofromthePC. 2 Control Software ThischapterexplainshowtousetheCodecControlsoftwaretogetherwithaTIaudiocodecEVM. 2.1 Control Software TheCodecControlsoftwareexposesmostfeaturesofasupportedTIaudiocodecEVMthroughan intuitivegraphicaluserinterface. NOTE: BeforeWindowsonthePCcanusetheTIaudioconverterEVMasasoundcard,theEVM mustbeconfigured(samplingrate,audiorouting,internalamplifiersettingsetc.)withthe CodecControlsoftware. ThiswillhappenautomaticallyonceanEVMisdetectedbytheCodecControlsoftware 2.2 Installation DownloadtheCodecControlsoftware(slac366.exe)fromtheTIaudiocodecproductfolderat http://www.ti.com andlaunchtheprogram(doubleclickonslac366.exe). Thisfileisaself-extractingarchive.Thedefaulttargetfolderis: C:\ProgramFiles\TexasInstruments\CodecControl ClicktheUnzipbuttontocompletetheinstallation. TheCodecControlsoftwareisnowavailableinthetargetfolder.Thenameoftheexecutableis CodecControl.exe TolaunchtheCodecControlsoftware,navigatetothetargetfolderwiththeWindowsExploreranddouble clickCodecControl.exe. 2.3 Concepts TheCodecControlsoftwarepresentsablockdiagramviewofasupportedTIaudiocodecEVM. Theblockdiagramconsistsofactiveobjectsthatcanreacttouserinput(forexampleswitchesor amplifierswithvariablegainthatshowavolumecontrolonamouseclickevent). NOTE: ActiveObjects–Eachactiveobjectwillchangecolortoredifthemousecursorisabove theobject.Clickingtheobjectwilltriggeritsfunction. Someactiveobjectsarelinkedtocontrolregister(s)oftheTIaudiocodec.TheCodecControlsoftwarewill updatetheappropriateregister(s)wheneveranactiveobjectistriggered.Ifaregisterthatislinkedtoan activeobjectischangedviaothercomponents(forexamplethescriptinterpreterortheregisterinspector), theactiveobjectwillchangeitsstateaccordingly. TheCodecControlsoftwarewillautomaticallydetectasupportedTIaudiocodecEVMonceitis connectedtoaUSBportofthePC. Thetoolbarcontainsacontrolthatdeterminesthezoomfactor.Changethezoombyselectingthedesired zoomfactor. Tomovetheblockdiagram,clickonablankareawithintheblockdiagramanddragthediagramwiththe mouse.
